About Our Sport
If you enjoy trail riding, spending time with your horse and meeting people whose main topic of conversation is horses, Competitive Trail Riding is the sport for you! Everyone gets to enjoy the partnership with their horse, the sights out on the trail and the camaraderie with those of like mind (horsey, that is)!
All NJTRA Competitive Trail Ride events are run under the rules of the Eastern Competitive Trail Ride Association (ECTRA). The ECTRA website has a some good information for getting started in the sport, See the Rider/Driver Handbook and the ECTRA Rule Book.
Competitive Trail Basics
The best thing about competitive trail is that anyone can participate! There's lots of info about how to get started, but this HorseChannel link, as well as the ECTRA site above, can give you a good idea of what to expect. Check out our Facebook to meet experienced riders and ask questions!
NJTRA Endurance events are sanctioned by and run under the rules of the American Endurance Ride Conference (AERC), which can be found here.
Getting ready for your first endurance ride? That's awesome! AERC has an amazing amount of information to help you out!
